Legacy Project

The ATME Legacy Project is an archive of writings, testimonials, and biographical information on senior movement teachers and theatre specialists whose exceptional work has inspired movement training and creative endeavors. The Project began several years ago with a discussion about finding a way to honor the movers and shakers in early theatre movement whose discoveries, refinements, and clarifications opened doors to what movement training is and can be. Annette Thornton (incoming ATME Secretary) organized a panel, "Theatre Movement Educators' Legacy Project: Part One", which was accepted for the 2006 ATHE Chicago Conference. Thus, The Legacy Project has begun.

The following people have been included in the Legacy Project for 2006:

  • Jim R. Hancock: Celebrating the Human Being – Body, Mind and
Spirit”, supported by Rich Rand, Purdue University.
  • Anna Sokolow and The Theater Artist: The physical and Soul
As One", presented by Yoav Kaddar
  • Arthur Lessac's Body NRGs and Body Wisdom, introduced by Tim Good
  • Jewel Walker: Movement as Craft - Transforming the
Conceptual into the Real, supported by Joann Browning, University of Delaware.
  • Andre Droznin and Mid-Career Mentoring: New Questions - New
Answers, introduced by Jennifer Martin, UMKC.
  • Gennadi Bogdanov and Meyerhold's Theatrical Biomechanics:
Pushing the Boundaries, presented by Annette Thornton.
